JavaScript from Null: Chapter 5 – Events

As we move forward with JavaScript University, today, we’ll learn how to add event handlers to elements on the page. Unfortunately, this can be more cumbersome than we’d hope, due to the fact that Internet Explorer must always be the black sheep. Nevertheless, we’ll learn how to abstract these inconsistencies away to our custom utility function.

Plugin Review: WordPress Advanced Ticket System

The other day, I had asked plugin developers to dish out their wish list for the plugin repository. Olivier published a comment recommending a plugin called WATS or WordPress Advanced Ticketing System as a way of handling support on your own website. After installation, users need to visit the Wats Options page within the Settings menu to configure the plugin.

Drag and Drop Z-Index Stacking

In an example for a previous post, I showed you how to use opacity during a drag’n’drop transaction . One bit I didn’t account for was element stacking and bringing the most recent element to the top of the stack. To do so, we’ll need to use a variable that represents the highest zIndex, which we’ll be incrementing.
